i’ve learned over the years while being in therapy how important it is to gift yourself, honor yourself, and take yourself on a little day date now and again. that’s mainly what this month was about.

however, the first few frames were from a walk around west town with my friend while we waited to get a table at uncle mike’s for brunch. i’ve been on this kick of trying all the filipino spots in town. this spot is worth the wait, and right up there with boonie’s.

took myself on a hot girl walk into ravenswood early in the day so i could get to koval distillery right as their doors opened. a few years back when i had first tried their liquors, i wasn’t exactly impressed, but at that point i don’t think i really knew how to appreciate or have the right palate for liquor. now i think i’ve become a bit of a snob with my cocktails, but only because i’ve come to truly understand how hard it is to make one well. i’ve been buying cocktail books to read for fun and to make some beautifully crafted versions from death & co. i love this little spot. the scandinavian interior and the natural light were so nice, i found myself a table close to the patio to get the fresh air while i ordered a drink i had never tried before. loved the reverse sour and the one i don’t recall, which is kind of sad since it was free and crafted for me to try by their mixologist - it was part of some line up they were trying with a very specific filtering process and i suggested it to be offered as a flight. got a nice buzz and read a few chapters of three body problem on the kindle.

growing up, i loved art class the most from grade school all the way through college. i think it was the one subject that allowed me to be me, because there was never any judgment in what i created and i was good at it. i loved clay in grade school, then metal work and glasswork (by default because photography never worked with my schedule) in high school, then charcoal in college. i never took a real photography class, but i was the friend who always had a camera with her, shared all the photos on facebook (haha ew), and eventually graduated onto dslrs. man, this transition is not going as i had wanted it to, but what i’m getting at is that going to art galleries as an adult has been a way to stay connected to the arts and it somehow allows myself to hit reset. i had a great time at the other art fair at artifact events.
