most of this roll was taken over a couple day dates we had gone on. little quirk about me: i find a lot of joy in finding local coffee shops when i travel, and when i find a spot i really like, i’ll buy a bag to bring home with me. coffee is one of the random things we connected on, and he found it rather fun that i was always on the hunt for beans - it’s something he’s started doing during work trips. anyway, i wanted to show him one of my favorite roasters and cool shops over in west town called “the center of order and experimentation,” who serve up really amazing specialty lattes from monday coffee.
on another day i introduced him to southern soul food down in hyde park at roux. we were a bit sluggish afterwards but needless to say, we were both full and happy. we spent the rest of the afternoon at the museum of science and industry, one of my favorite museums in the city (but nothing beats the mca or the art institute).
having grown up in the midwest, nothing can quite take me back home like a good diner. iowa city offers two of the best: hamburg inn and blue bird diner. anyway, got to hit up honeybear cafe up in rogers park with two of my coworkers/friends, then another time snapped a quick mirror selfie on my way to meet up with friends at irene’s diner in north center - they make homemade hot sauce that’s really good.
then to wrap up the roll, a few shots of char and home, and a couple from work up in the burbs.
